Jalen Hurts: Concussion
Based on the data, Hurts will likely return for the Eagles’ Week 17 tilt against the Cowboys. Zooming in, given this is his first documented concussion, that also bodes well for Hurts’ availability. Still, understand that there’s always a risk he has serious symptoms and just can’t go. He’ll be highly volatile due to reinjury risk as well, but you can’t sit Jalen Hurts.
Projected Return: Week 17/TBD
Josh Allen: Funny Bone
Allen hit his funny bone… per Josh Allen. He’ll be sore, but this isn’t a massive issue.
Projected Return: Week 17
James Conner: Knee/Hyperextension?
Conner has a long history of knee injuries and is now dealing with another. Based on the video, the injury didn’t seem major, but he didn’t return to the game, which is why the video is not diagnostic. The point here is that the Cardinals are eliminated from the playoffs, and it makes zero sense for the veteran to go back out there. With that said, players make irrational decisions at times, so monitor his practice reports.
Projected Return: 2025/TBD
CeeDee Lamb: AC Joint
It’s painfully obvious Lamb is less than even 80% due to the shoulder injury. At this point I’m not sure what he’s playing for, but even if he’s active, it’s hard to trust him to finish the game. Sure, he can keep you afloat in the finals. But the risk is through the roof.
Projected Return: 2025/TBD
Drake London: Hamstring
NFL WRs miss 0 games after a hamstring injury 52% of the time, so London has a decent chance to play. Here’s the data to consider: re-injury rates are high and the Stud and Dud rates are essentially equal post hamstring injuries. With an 18% Week Winner rate, WRs coming off this injury are the definition of boom or bust (with a slightly higher emphasis on the bust). Players with these injuries should generally be avoided in trades or acquisitions in season-long leagues. At this point, London isn’t a must-start if he goes in Week 17.
Projected Return: Week 17-18
Ken Walker: Ankle
Here’s what I had to say about Walker prior to Week 16:
“Walker is the definition of boom/bust this week (per usual) with a lot of the potential for boom in question since Zach Charbonnet will play as well. There are likely better options than either of these guys across the slate - especially in DFS.”
Walker (medically speaking) should probably sit out Week 17. Prepare to be without him, and even if he plays, there’s no real reason to slot him in due to reinjury risk. The flip side is that Charbonnet could smash against a bottom-5 rush defense by EPA in the Bears.
