2024 Week 2 Streaming D/STs

Welcome back, streamers, you sick freaks! You’re here because you play the fantasy DST position the right way, week-to-week. There’s no advantage to setting and forgetting one team all season. We want to attack poor offensive lines, clueless quarterbacks, and atrocious offensive coordinators.

Like last season, I’ll use Yahoo’s roster percentages when referencing who to add. Ideally, I want to look at teams owned in fewer than 50% of leagues, but on occasion (like this week), we can go a tad over that number. Because some really good defenses are still on the wire, you can scoop and score yourself a top option. Let’s dive into the Week 2 streaming options.

Drake’s Top 7 DST Adds

1. Los Angeles Chargers @ CAR

2. Philadelphia vs ATL

3. Seattle @ NE

4. Denver vs PIT

5. Jacksonville vs CLE

6. Chicago @ HOU

7. Houston vs CHI

Top-Tier Adds

Los Angeles Chargers (13%) @ CAR – This is a no-brainer. Carolina is absolutely lost on offense. This is easily the worst offensive line in the NFL. Carolina’s line allowed Bryce Young to be sacked four times, and the offense turned the ball over three times. Don’t overthink this. Jim Harbaugh has the Bolts buying in. While you might not know anyone on the Chargers offense, the D is still loaded with talent. Last week, the Chargers allowed just 71 yards of passing. That was 13 more than Carolina netted. #Yikes.

Philadelphia Eagles (62%) vs. ATL – OK, so Philly is over 50% owned, sue me. However, they are still unowned in 38% of Yahoo leagues, and that number could be higher on other platforms, as they opened with the Packers in Week 1. Well, “Brat Summer” is officially over, and “Fangio Fall” is here. The new Eagles DC had his unit humming around the field in Brazil. Philly allowed Packers QB Jordan Love to complete just 48.6% of his passes (fourth worst on the week). Now the immobile Kirk Cousins limps into the Linc. Good luck. Cousins can’t move. The Achilles injury that cost him half of 2023 rendered him stationary last week. His offensive line didn’t help at all, either. I like Philly to turn Cousins over a few times on Monday night.

Seattle Seahawks (43%) @ NE — Seattle was a team I pounded the table for folks to draft due to their early season schedule. Fresh off a three-turnover and two-sack performance against Denver, the Seahawks go cross-country to battle Jacoby Brissett and the Patriots. Yes, New England won last week. And no, they aren’t any good. The Pats have no weapons on the outside. If they can’t pound the rock with Rhamondre Stevenson, they can’t do anything. Seattle should benefit from positive game scripts, which will force Brissett to drop back early and often. That’s a recipe for disaster. I love this new look Mike Macdonald defense to keep it rolling in Foxboro.

Tier Two Adds

Indianapolis Colts (8%) @ GB — I don’t trust Indy for a second as a defense. The Colts did, though, have four sacks and blocked a kick against Houston. So I’d be doing you a disservice if I didn’t reccomend the Colts against Malik Willis and the Packers. In Willis’ three pro starts, he’s never thrown a touchdown pass. His completion percentage is a hair over 50%. He stinks. Fire up the Colts, because you have eyes and have seen Willis play quarterback.

Denver Broncos (12%) vs. PIT — This is more of an indictment on the Steelers' offense than the Broncos DST. Pittsburgh likely rolls with Justin Fields again this week, who can be prone to throwing the ball to the other team. This game, being across the country in Mile High, also bodes well for the Broncos. Pittsburgh has one outside weapon (George Pickens), and Denver can easily nullify him with uber-stud corner Patrick Surtain. That leaves ten other Broncos to focus on stopping Najee Harris and Fields’ QB scrambles. I’m banking on a big Broncos week. I don’t love this play, but it surely has some major upside.

Jacksonville Jaguars (4%) vs CLE — Deshaun Watson is lost. He simply can’t play quarterback at the moment. Dallas wrecked the Browns in every phase of the game on Sunday. Now the Browns lick their wounds and head south to Duval County, where the Jags can create pressure on the QB. The Jags sacked Tua Tagovailoa three times in Week 1. Cleveland could be without stud TE David Njoku (ankle), and while the Jags could be had through the air, Watson hasn’t shown that he can take advantage in four years. Dallas hit Watson an NFL-leading 17 times on Sunday. If he’s going to sit back and fail to elude any pressure, I think the Jags can turn him over and score some fantasy points.

Chicago Bears (56%) @ HOU — This is more of a future play. I don’t advise playing the Bears on the road in Houston, but I want Chicago on my roster. This is a top-5 fantasy defense ROS. Their next four games are @IND, vs. LAR, vs CAR, vs JAX, so yeah, add them. Da Bears turned Will Levis and his mayo-covered his fingers over three times, scoring touchdowns on defense and in the return game. This is just a defense you want to have access to. Oh, after their Week 7 BYE, they get this murderer’s row of crap: @WAS, @ARI, vs. NE.

Houston Texans (53%) vs. CHI — I like this Texans DST. They gave up a few huge splash plays against Indy last Sunday, but overall, I’m a fan of their talent. I’m also into DSTs against rookie QBs who are on the road. Caleb Williams looked like the bad USC version of himself. A suspect offensive line hampered him, and he didn’t even throw for 100 yards. Now we hear that rookie WR Rome Odunze is banged up and could miss the game. Keenan Allen also left Week 1’s contest with an injury. Pickings are getting slim, and I can see Williams locking onto his lone target one too many times and the Texans bringing one back to the house. Houston's next two games after Chicago are @MIN and vs JAX.

Looking ahead to Week 3

Chicago @ IND

Houston @ MIN

Detroit @ ARI

Green Bay @TEN

Tampa Bay vs DEN

LA Chargers @ PIT
