Fool me once; shame on me. Fool me twice…
Atlanta Falcons (ATL, 33%) Vs. MIN – Unfortunately for the Vikings, QB Kirk Cousins was lost for the season with an Achilles tear. The beneficiaries of this should be the Falcons' defense, who will face rookie Jaren Hall out of BYU. If you don’t know who that is, you aren’t alone. The Falcons' defense — even without Grady Jarrett — should get to know him very well as the shell-shocked Vikes travel to the ATL. Hall was 3 of 4 for 23 yards after Cousins left. The Minnesota offense will look drastically different, probably not in a good way.
Los Angeles Chargers (LAC, 26%) @ NYJ – The Chargers are total pass funnel defense. On the season, they’ve allowed the sixth most fantasy points to opposing receivers per Fantasy Points Data. The issue here is the Jets can’t pass the football. The closest Zach Wilson will get to being confused for an NFL quarterback is if he dresses up as Aaron Rodgers for Halloween. So I think the Chargers have a shot here at garnering some sacks, but don’t go over the moon with your FAAB because, again, these are the Brandon Staley-led Chargers, after all.
Let’s get aggressive and win the damn week
Las Vegas Raiders (LAC, 13%) Vs. NYG – If Tyrod Taylor can’t play and it’s another week of Tommy DeVito, you can bet the Giants offense will remain stuck in the mud. It was obvious the G-Men didn’t want DeVito to throw the ball. He finished 2/7 for -1 yards passing. New York had the fewest pass yards in an NFL game since 2000. On Monday, we learned that Daniel Jones has been cleared for contact, and the sportsbooks definitely think he’ll start. However, I’m not changing my outlook on this game at all, regardless of the Giants QB, given how awful they’ve been all year.
Since the start of the 2010 season, only two teams have finished a game with negative net passing yards.

1/2/2022 — Giants (-7) at Bears
10/29/2023 — Giants (-9) vs. Jets
Houston Texans (HOU, 10%) Vs. TB – Have you seen Baker Mayfield play football? Houston is coming off a six-sack effort in Week 8. The Texans haven’t allowed more than 21 points since Week 2.
You’re still on a Halloween candy sugar high
Arizona Cardinals (AZ, 1%) @ CLE – The Cardinals aren’t a great defense. Honestly, they aren’t even a good defense. But if P.J. Walker is under center for the Browns, you’ve got a chance at multiple turnovers and a handful of sacks. Cleveland has allowed at least two sacks in every game and has thrown multiple interceptions in four straight. It is likely a better DFS tournament play than season-long, but sometimes, pickings are slim on the wire.
Tennessee Titans (TEN, 2%) @ PIT – Two words: Mitch Trubisky. It’s unknown if Kenny Pickett will be able to heal his injured ribs in time for the Thursday night contest. Either way, the Titans are coming off six sacks of Desmond Ridder. Whoever is the Steelers signal caller will engineer an offense that ranks 31st in points per game, 32nd in time of possession, and 29th in pressures per dropback. Per Fantasy Points Data, the Titans rank ninth in average fantasy points allowed (50.9).
Green Bay Packers (GB, 18%) Vs. LAR – Might we see Brett Rypien for the Rams at Lambeau this weekend? Matthew Stafford has a UCL sprain in his right throwing thumb and is day to day. If Rypien goes, expect plenty of short passes. His longest completion on Sunday was 13 yards, and his average yards per attempt was a dismal 4.2. That was three-plus yards less than Stafford was averaging. Green Bay isn’t elite at anything on defense, but facing a QB of this caliber puts any unit in play.
This feels like a trap to me…
New England Patriots (NE, 27%) Vs. WAS – Coming into Week 8, Sam Howell was on pace to be sacked 97 times. The Eagles managed to get home just once. Washington has figured out they need to execute more quick game-passing concepts to get the ball out of Howell’s hands. The trap here, to me, is that the Patriots aren’t stopping anyone. Add in that per Fantasy Points Data, they are in the bottom 10 in average fantasy points allowed per game since Week 5. If you need to take a shot on them, I get it. I just don’t feel as good as I do about other streamers this week.

Week 9 DraftKings Tournament Plays
Priced Highest to Lowest
Browns $4200 (vs. ARI) – We’re not getting Joshua Dobbs this week, so it’s either the returning Kyler Murray or rookie Clayton Tune. Cleveland at home is always a good play in theory, but I don’t ever pay top price at D/ST.
Falcons $3700 (vs. MIN) – As outlined above, we’re getting a backup QB on the road. That’s always something we want to target.
Raiders $3600 (vs. NYG) – Danny Dimes could take his job back, but does it matter? At this price, I like taking a shot on the Raiders, turning Jones over, and scoring.
Panthers $3500 (vs. IND) – Fresh off their first win, the Panthers could be a sneaky play at home. Since Week 5, Carolina has allowed the most fantasy points per game to opposing offenses. They stink. But Gardner Minshew’s crew has turned the ball over nine times in the last three weeks. This is a large field GPP-only play.
Commanders $3200 (@ NE) – We’ve been picking on the Patriots in this article all year, and we’re not about to stop. DC’s front is nasty and can get in Mac Jones’ face often. The Pats have turned the ball over in all but one game thus far.
Colts $2900 (@ CAR) – The Colts defense isn’t good. Lucky for them, neither are the Panthers. Bryce Young has been sacked ten times in his last two games—another GPP dart throw.
Giants $2300 (@ LV) – Stone minimum. It is sure to be a chalky play. The Giants defense actually outplayed the Jets on Sunday. This week, they get the always-shaky Raiders offense. NY hasn’t allowed over 14 points since Week 5 and has ten sacks in their last two contests.
