2023 Week 8 Streaming D/STs

Congrats, we all survived the six-team "Byemageddon." Now we're back to full strength and can look to add some impactful streamers off the wire. Last week, we nailed the top two defenses in fantasy in this article (Chicago and Cleveland). Who can we hit this week for DFS and season-long?

Drake’s Top Week 8 D/ST adds

Under 50% Owned on Yahoo

  1. Los Angeles Chargers vs. Chicago
  2. Miami Dolphins vs. New England
  3. Houston Texans @ Carolina
  4. Atlanta Falcons @ Tennessee
  5. Minnesota Vikings @ Green Bay

Check your waiver wire for the NY Jets (61% owned) coming off a bye. They'll face the Giants. Also, the Lions will get dropped a ton this week. They get the Raiders at home (currently 56% owned).

Los Angeles Chargers (LAC, 7%) Vs. CHI – For all the talent that the Chargers possess, they haven’t been very good for fantasy. They can remedy that as the Tyson Bagent-led Bears come to SoFi Stadium. I think defenses will have a better plan against him with a week of film on Bagent. Chicago has given up over 13 fantasy points per game to opposing defenses.

Miami Dolphins (MIA, 48%) Vs. NE – Despite the Pats' victory over the Bills, I still don’t trust them. The line stinks. The receivers aren’t any good. Oh, and Mac Jones is their QB. Word is that All-Pro corner Jalen Ramsey could return this week. His partner in crime, Xavien Howard, could be in the lineup as well. I’ll take a chance that Miami can turn him over a few times.

Houston Texans (HOU, 4%) @ CAR — Bryce Young is swimming in the deep end. His 5.3 yards per attempt is laughably bad. He'll face a run funnel in Houston, who has given up eight rushing scores to only a league-low four passing. I think Houston has the lead throughout and forces Carolina to drop back and throw more than they'd like. That will result in fantasy points for our Texans, that's right - OUR TEXANS!

Atlanta Falcons (ATL, 13%) @ TEN – So the Titans are choosing between Malik Willis or Will Levis to lead their offense, presuming Ryan Tannehill can’t go. I don’t care who the pick is. The answer is the Falcons D/ST. Neither of those guys will spark a Titans offense that hasn’t scored over 16 points since Week 4. Titans sit 8th in points allowed to opposing D/ST units. Atlanta has overall #1 D/ST upside this week, and most of your league won't even consider them.

Minnesota Vikings (MIN, 7%) @ GB — The Packers lost to the Broncos - THE BRONCOS! Jordan Love is playing like he won a radio contest to play quarterback. His 180-yard output against Denver was comically bad. I love the Vikings here. Per our new Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed tool at Fantasy Points Data, the Vikings are the fifth-stingiest in the league against the QB. They are giving up -2.7 points per game vs expectation.

DFS Plays (DraftKings)

Ravens $4200 - Pricey. I never want to pay up for a defense, but the Ravens can get after the QB like nobody's business.

Jets $4000 - Still not in my ideal price range, but I love the Jets in this spot. The Giants' line is a mess. The Jets are getting Sauce Gardner back. I don't see a lot of scoring in this one, but I do see many G-men miscues.

Chiefs $3900 - They are playing Denver. Do I have to say more?

Saints $3700 - Gardner Minshew plays with reckless abandon. He turns the ball over every week. The Colts play at a fast pace — which we love. The Saints rebound and score on defense.

Seahawks $3400 - Home game against a (likely) P.J. Walker-led Browns team. I can sign off on that.

Commanders $2300 - This punt play could hit. Washington always plays the Eagles tough. In Week 4, the Commanders sacked Jalen Hurts three times. Philly is turning the ball over weekly, so there's a chance for a big play at a cheap price.
