Week 5 Streaming DSTs

If you are one of those hooligans who streams defenses each week, you’ve come to the right place. We’ll be looking for 50% rostered or less in Yahoo! leagues.

New England Patriots (NE, 58%) @ Hou

I’m going to make an exception and list the Patriots here, only because their ownership plummeted last week due to their Week Four matchup with Tampa Bay. They did a great job against Tom Brady, keeping him out of the end zone and keeping the Bucs to just 19 points. Their matchup couldn’t be easier this week, as they will face the most fantasy-friendly offense when they travel to Houston. If by some chance the Patriots D was dropped in your league, grab them.

Minnesota Vikings (Min, 17%) vs. Det

Mike Zimmer has made a living off of fixing his defenses quickly if there are issues. Those issues glared brightly in the first two games of the season, but we've seen a turnaround over the last two weeks. After giving up 61 points through two games, the Vikings have now held Seattle and Cleveland to under 20 points in back-to-back games. No matter the score, Danielle Hunter and his crew are getting their sacks. They have 13 through four games. Next, they face a Lions team that hasn’t scored more than 17 points in a game since Week One. Detroit has surrendered 10 sacks, 3 turnovers, and a defensive TD.

Carolina Panthers (Car, 43%) vs. Phi

Similar to New England, Carolina’s ownership crashed with their Week Four matchup with the Cowboys. With that ugly game behind them, they head back home and welcome a Philadelphia team that ranks 10th in FPA to defenses. The Eagles have played two bad defenses — Atlanta and Kansas City — and fared well. But their two games against average defenses — San Francisco and Dallas — have not gone well for them. Carolina has been an elite defense up until they ran into Dallas. They held all three of their previous opponents to 14 points or fewer, while racking up 14 sacks and 3 INTs.
