2024 NFL Super Bowl 59 Odds

The NFL crowned the Kansas City Chiefs as the Super Bowl champions over the San Francisco 49ers for the 2023 season. DraftKings Sportsbook has pegged the Chiefs and 49ers as the favorites to win the Super Bowl LIX at +550 and +600 odds, respectively. The Baltimore Ravens (+900), Detroit Lions (+1200), Buffalo Bills (+1200), and Cincinnati Bengals (+1300) round out the six teams at +1300 odds or shorter to hoist the 2024 Lombardi Trophy. On the other end of the spectrum, the Carolina Panthers have the longest 2024 NFL Super Bowl odds at +25000, followed by the New England Patriots and the Tennessee Titans at +15000 odds.

I previously broke down the initial 2024 Super Bowl LIX Odds in mid-February and the evolving Lombardi Trophy odds after Free Agency and after The NFL Draft. Super Bowl LIX will be played on Feb. 9, 2025, at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

Recent History Tells Us…

The eventual Super Bowl winner has come from the top-three favorites in preseason odds in a whopping eight of the last 10 seasons. The 2015 Denver Broncos had the sixth-shortest odds but were still priced at +900 to win Super Bowl 50, which makes the 2017 Philadelphia Eagles the one true long shot to win the Lombardi Trophy with the 13th-shortest odds. The Eagles were the only team with longer than +1200 odds to win the championship in the last decade. With that said, we’ve seen five teams priced at +2500 odds or longer get to the doorstep of winning the Super Bowl in the last decade, including the 2022 Philadelphia Eagles (+2500), the 2021 Cincinnati Bengals (+15000), and the 2019 San Francisco 49ers (+4000) in the last five years.

Tom Brolley’s NFL Super Bowl Wagers

Analysis for these bets was written at the time the original wager was placed.

Cincinnati Bengals

+1500, DraftKings, Placed Feb. 13

The Chiefs have established themselves as the AFC’s gatekeepers with their third Lombardi Trophy and fourth Super Bowl appearance in the last five years. The Bengals are the only AFC team to eliminate Kansas City in the last five seasons and Joe Burrow is the only active QB to do it — Tom Brady and the Buccaneers beat the Chiefs in the 2020 Super Bowl. Cincinnati isn’t afraid to stand toe-to-toe against Kansas City, which was further demonstrated last season when the Jake Browning-led Bengals gave the Chiefs all they could handle at Arrowhead Stadium on New Year’s Eve. Burrow is coming off a lost fourth campaign due to calf and wrist injuries, and he’ll be on a mission to prove he’s worth being the highest-paid player at $55 million per year.

The Bengals are entering a pivotal off-season with players like Tee Higgins, D.J. Reader, and Jonah Williams set to hit free agency, but they at least have the fourth-most cap space ($59.4 million) as of Feb. 12. The Bengals lost Brian Callahan to the Titans, but they still have one of the league’s most stable play-calling situations between Zac Taylor and Lou Anaromo. Cincinnati has tough sledding in the AFC North, which became the first division to have every team finish above .500 in the Super Bowl era. They still have a massive leg up on the rest of the division because of their fourth-place finish last season. They get unique games against the lowly Panthers, Patriots, and Titans who are projected to be three of the five worst teams based on Super Bowl odds. They get an additional six games against teams at +7500 odds or worse in the Giants, Commanders, Broncos, Raiders, and Steelers (x2).

Philadelphia Eagles

+2200, Caesars, Placed Feb. 13

We bought the Baltimore Ravens at their lowest point in this article last off-season at +3500 odds, and we’re doing the same with the Eagles at +2200 in this year’s article. Baltimore had consistently been a contender with Lamar Jackson and John Harbaugh together, but they were being disregarded because of Lamar’s impending free agency and because of how the Ravens finished the 2022 season. Philadelphia is on a similar trajectory this off-season. They opened last season with a 10-1 record and were the Super Bowl favorites after beating the Bills in Week 12 before their season went spiraling out of control with a 1-6 mark to end the year. The Eagles are still one of the NFL’s sharpest organizations despite their late-season collapse, and they’ve consistently put themselves in the mix to make a run in the NFC. I’d expect nothing different from the Eagles next season despite one of the more dramatic collapses in recent NFL history.

Philadelphia significantly upgraded their coordinator spots by swapping out Brian Johnson, Sean Desai, and Matt Patricia for experienced play-callers Kellen Moore and Vic Fangio. The Eagles need to re-tool a defense that showed some age last season, but they have some cap flexibility and three selections inside the top 53 picks to get the job done. The Eagles also get easier unique games than the Cowboys with matchups against the Jaguars, Packers, and Rams because of their second-place finish — Dallas will face the Texans, Lions, and 49ers. Philly also has four games against the Giants and Commanders, who rank in the bottom five in Super Bowl odds.
