It’s your buddy Darren Manser, a.k.a. @BooBoojojo, and I’m super excited to dive into this weekend’s 2024 Week 3 Preseason action.
This article is a free version for the public, but for specific slate plays and a main slate livestream, come join us at Fantasy Points. You’ll gain insight in our Discord and have access to my live stream.
I know the NFL preseason can be a bit like a choose-your-own-adventure book, but I’ve got your back. If you’re an NFL Premium or All-In subscriber, join me over in the subscriber Discord’s #nfl-dfs channel a couple of hours before kickoff for some good ol’ fashioned Q&A. Trust me, that’s where the magic happens.
QUARTERBACKS
Zach Wilson | Broncos vs Cardinals | Broncos -3.5 | O/U: 35.5
I get it! But seriously, hear me out. With Bo Nix now being named the official starter, I seriously doubt he sees the field for Denver week. We want playing time and players who can make plays, and since Wilson will be facing 2nd and 3rd-stringers, we’ve got a shot here. Sean Payton has come out and said, “My job is to make you millions, whether with us or another team.” His last two weeks have been outstanding, and he was on a “heater” in practice on Wednesday. I love motivated players, and Zach Wilson has a few million reasons to play well this weekend.
Sean Payton is all in on Zach Wilson. He’s got him playing with more confidence and energy than he ever has.

Trey Lance | Cowboys vs. Chargers | Cowboys -3.5 | O/U: 33.5
At this point, it’s like a plug-and-play situation. Lance has the second-most dropbacks this preseason, throwing for 339 yards and 1 TD in 2 games, plus he’s rushed for 78 yards and added a rushing TD. Jerry Jones wants to see more of Lance in the final preseason game, and knowing we have a QB playing an entire game is music to our preseason DFS ears.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he wants to see more of Trey Lance in the final preseason game. Mike McCarthy said Lance will likely start and go the entire way against the Chargers. Jerry Jones said emphatically that Trey Lance has already earned a roster spot and is on the team

Hendon Hooker | Lions vs Steelers | Steelers -6.5 | O/U: 35.5
It’s been a tough road for Hooker, missing the 2023 season due to injury and then getting a concussion twq weeks ago. But I wrote him up last week, hoping he would play the second half to avoid the Chiefs starters, and he did very well! In the two games he’s played, he has 186 passing yards, 45 rushing yards, and a rushing TD. I’ll be keeping an eye on his playing time status for the weekend.
RUNNING BACKS
Julius Chestnut |Titans vs Saints | Titans -2.5 | O/U: 36.5
The Titans are supposed to have their starters do a dress rehearsal, but it’s unclear if that means just the first quarter or more. Either way, after Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears get done, the depth behind them is a little thin. Jabari Small was diagnosed with a concussion last week, so he’ll probably miss this week. Chestnut had 13 attempts last week and a couple of targets. With Small out, this should help Chestnut get those valuable touches and rack up some extra fantasy points.
Boston Scott | Rams vs. Texans | Texans -6.5 | O/U: 34
BoSco was one of my favorite plays last week, but alas, he went out with an injury. Even though he came back into the game, he didn’t get many more opportunities outside of a couple of goal-line runs that he was unable to punch in. Zach Evans is also an option since the Rams are holding pretty much everyone else out of the game, so this is a one-two punch on players who should play most of the game.
Emanuel Wilson | Packers vs. Ravens | Packers -3.5 | O/U: 33.5
The Green Bay Packers were horrendous last week, scoring only 2 points on a safety. But it wasn’t for lack of effort from Mr. Wilson, who had 13 attempts for 41 yards. He looked good enough for me to go after his volume again this week. He led the 2023 preseason in rushing, and I’m hoping the whole team was embarrassed by whatever that was they put on the field last week and are ready for some redemption in their last preseason game at home.
WIDE RECEIVERS
Xavier Smith | Rams vs. Texans | Texans -6.5 | O/U: 34
Smith leads the preseason with 65 pass routes and has 12 targets so far. I seriously doubt we’ll see Jordan Whittington this week, as good as he has looked. So the Rams will be missing 17 targets, and those passes have to go somewhere. I’m expecting Xavier to be the main beneficiary here. He’s been one of my guys who actually catches the ball — grabbing 9 out of the 12 that have been thrown his way.
Casey Washington | Falcons vs. Jaguars | Jaguars -7 | O/U: 35.5
I must be a glutton for punishment suggesting Washington again this week. He must use butter to wash his hands, catching only 3 of the 15 targets he’s had through two games this year. I’m really counting on some positive regression here, hoping he can keep his eyes open when the ball comes his way.
Joseph Ngata | Eagles vs Vikings | Vikings -1 | O/U: 33.5
Ngata went off last week with 5 catches for 88 yards, and for preseason, that’s a massive score. This week, it looks like John Ross and Johnny Wilson will be out with concussions. Johnny was a late scratch last week, but the Eagles are still pretty thin at the WR position, so I’m jumping on the Ngata train and hoping his hot streak continues.
Calvin Ridley | Titans vs Saints | Titans -2.5 | O/U: 36.5
Even though the Tennessee starters may play only a quarter, Calvin will take the field without D-Hop, who’s nursing an injury. I’m assuming he’ll be heavily targeted like he has been in camp this summer. Ridley is a burner, and I love his outlook this season. With the Titans' D — or lack thereof — he’ll be heavily involved every week, which makes me happy as a Titans fan.
Remember, I’ll be hanging out in the #nfl-dfs Discord chat as @Darren a couple of hours before kickoff, ready to tackle your burning questions and help you finesse those last-minute lineup moves. Wishing you all the luck and excitement in the world as we dive into this preseason spectacle.
